Strange Situations
In this situation there are four characters. Myself, two men and a woman. I walked out of the gym today and there was a woman searching in the trunk of her car and I noticed that her tire was flat. She seemed at a loss. She looked at me and looked embarrassed and continued to search in her trunk. Seeing this I walked over and asked if she needed help. She confessed that she couldn't undo the nut that held her spare in place and then informed me that it was her son's car that she had borrowed. I leaned in to help and couldn't undo the nut either. At this time two men walked out of the gym and walked by seemingly not noticing what was going on. I knew the woman was at a loss and I didn't have the strength to undo it either. So I approached the two guys and it took me two attempts to get their attention. After getting their attention they finally came over to help. Between the guys' tools and my lug wrench, we managed to get her tire changed. The lady still seeming very embarrassed quietly told the guys and me thanks, quickly hopped into her car and drove away. I thanked the guys for their help and left. Now this doesn't really sound strange.
But I was thinking on the way home, how obvious the woman and her flat tire were and how the two guys just walked by not seeing anything. Then I thought how embarrassed the woman seemed and how reluctant she seemed to ask for help. Then I wondered what would have happened if I hadn't been there. How long would she have been there before someone else helped her. This happened in a parking lot full of people and I was the only one who stopped to help. How sad is that? Then it occurred to me how not one of us had enough in equipment to help her but between all four of us we had everything we needed. That can't just be coincidence. God works in strange ways, and I wonder what this situation did that will change lives. I also thought how the woman turned and left with a barely said thank you. How often do we forget to say thank you to God or to really express our appreciation. Maybe I think too much about everyday situations but I would like to take a second and thank God for everything I have and for all of my friends and family. THANK YOU!
