Easter and Thoughts

I know I know...I haven't posted in like forever! Sorry. Happy belated Easter to all my wonderful friends. I'm so thankful that God gave his son to us and that with his death and resurrection I will have eternal life. It is sometimes hard to imagine how God could possibly look at such retched creatures and still have such immense love for us. I find it amazing!

Not Easter weekend but the weekend before, I went on a journey with a friend of mine to a place he constantly refers to as Hell. We went to visit his younger sister, who lives with their grandmother as my friend also did before he turned 18. His sister is thirteen and is what you would call sheltered. However, she is sheltered from what is good and exposed to what many of us consider the worst in life. Maybe not really sheltered but neglected. She knows little of love except what she receives from her brother, and she has little in the way of possessions. The area she lives in and the surrounding community are poor and rundown. To give you an idea of the life she is used to: She asked me upon arrival and entering my house if I were rich. Many of you have seen my house and know different. But this statement gave me pause. Maybe I am.

Everything that I experienced with this young one gave me pause. It brought to mind how much God has given me, and how much hope one small drop of love can give a person, just to simply live day to day.
